What To Do If Your Pet’s Head Gets Stuck In A Container?

Pets usually get their heads stuck in containers while looking for food or water. If not removed quickly, they can die from suffocation, starvation, or dehydration.

This happens a lot, especially if you have curious pets. They’re always going to find a way to get stuck in jars, cans and boxes. But don’t worry, you can help them out safely with a few simple steps.

It might look cute, but it’s serious. Get that container off their head ASAP!

What To Do?

  • First off, don’t freak out. Your pet’s already scared, so stay calm and comfort them.
  • Try to gently pull and twist the container off. If it’s not moving, don’t force it or you might hurt your pet. Instead, grab some cooking oil or petroleum jelly to help slide it off.
  • If you need to cut the container, always cut away from your pet’s face and body to avoid any accidents.
  • Can’t get it off? Call your vet or animal control. You’re not a superhero, and that’s okay.
  • Once your pet is free, give them a nice massage to ease their soreness and stress. They’ll appreciate it!

Why Do Pets Get Stuck In Containers?

Well, pets get their heads stuck in containers just because they’re curious and playful. They love sniffing around. Worse if they smell food. This curiosity makes them mess with those jars, and containers, not realizing they can get stuck. They just don’t get the danger and are usually driven by their hunting instincts at that point.

Keep those containers away from your pets and use bowls with wide openings to feed them.
