Getting quality sleep can do a lot of good things for your health. It’s a part of your physical health, and can affect so many aspects of your life. Like your energy levels, the way your brain works (how well you can focus, remember things, and even think and calculate better).

If you’ve never been told the benefits of getting quality sleep, you’re about to find out.

Why getting quality sleep matters

Sleep is 8what gives your body the ability to function well. It helps your body repair cells and rejuvenate itself, which helps your immune system and energy levels.

Getting enough sleep also regulates your appetite, which helps prevent things like stress-eating or messed-up hunger levels. It also helps the brain by improving its ability to concentrate, improve your memory, and make decisions.

When you’re sleep deprived, it can be hard to even think of what to have for breakfast.

It also helps you manage your emotions better, cause no sleep, and can mess up your emotional health.

Another thing quality sleep helps with is giving you enough energy to do basic things and intense activities. If you’re not getting quality sleep, it will eventually tell on your body.

For example, If you keep charging your phone till  20 percent, it can only do so much, and before you know it, it dies. Eventually, the battery will get bad, and hopefully it’s not to the point of no repair.

People aren’t phones, but we do operate on energy. And it’s the same thing. Sleep gives your body energy, but if you’re not getting enough, you’d have no energy to do things, and eventually you might break down.

Don’t joke with sleep, YOU NEED Sleep.

Quality sleep also helps your mental health, as sleep helps reduce stress, anxiety, and even depression. Research shows that poor sleep can lead to mental issues like depression.

Other ways sleep helps us

  • Helps our skin look so much better
  • Reduces the risk of getting diabetes, gaining excess weight, and developing heart problems
  • It also helps our mood (sometimes what they did is not that deep, you’re just all over the place because you need sleep!)
  • Quality sleep helps your fitness journey
  • It can help you age better

Do this if you want to start getting quality sleep

The first step is to try to meet the daily recommended sleep time. Adults should be getting at least 7 hours of sleep; getting less may cause problems for you.

However, the hours aren’t the only important thing; it’s also about when you get those hours.

4 am to 11 am is not particularly quality sleep, even if it’s 7 hours. You can try going to bed from 10 pm to 5 am, or 11 pm to 6 am.

It can be helpful to turn your TV, laptop, or phone off and get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day, and you can still catch up.

It may also help to keep your room dark, cool, and quiet. If you have a roommate, talk about these things with them; they should be reasonable enough to meet you halfway.

Also, sleeping on clean sheets and pillow covers can make your bed feel nice and refreshing, especially if you recently washed them.

Keep your room clean and tidy, make sure it’s got enough air coming in.

You can start today, and you’ll see results in no time.
