Apple cider vinegar or cider vinegar, is a vinegar made from fermented apple juice, and there are some benefits you may get from apple cider vinegar. Many people add apple cider vinegar to their salads, marinades, vinaigrettes, food Preservatives and chutneys.

Apple cider vinegar is made by crushing apples, then squeezing out the juice. It also contains acetic acid and nutrients such as vitamins and vitamin C.

Apple cider vinegar is quite popular as a home remedy. Many people have been using it for hundreds of years in their cooking and medicine. Research also tells of it’s various health properties, including some anti microbial and antioxidant properties.

Many people claim it can relieve many health conditions.  Research says that it could offer some of the following benefits to the body:

1 . Eliminating harmful bacteria 

Apple cider vinegar can help kill pathogens, including bacteria. It has the potential to treat some type of bacteria like E.coil and staph infection.

2 . Treat acne and other skin conditions 

Some people believe that apple cider vinegar can improve acne, dry skin and other skin conditions, but these assumptions are mostly unfounded. The skin is naturally slightly acidic, so using topical apple cider vinegar could help rebalance the natural Ph of the skin and improving the protective skin barrier.

Some people add diluted vinegar to their toner or face wash with the idea that it can kill bacteria and prevent spots. However, a study in 22 people reported that apple cider vinegar didn’t improve the situation but rather caused irritation to the skin.

3 . May help with weight loss

One study showed that taking apple cider vinegar twice a day helped people lose a few extra pounds. Although the study was small and short-term following about 39 people for 12 weeks.

Overal, apple cider vinegar may contribute to your weight loss by promoting satiety, reducing blood sugar and lowering insulin levels.

4 . May lower blood sugar 

Other smaller studies have shown that taking a tablespoon or two if apple cider vinegar could lower your blood sugar levels after eating. The effort was moderate and there is need for more research to be done to know exactly how it works. 

You should also note that apple cider vinegar should not be replaced with diabetic medications and a healthy lifestyle. 

If you’re currently taking blood-sugar lowering medications, talk with your doctor before increasing your intake of any type of vinegar.

5 . Improve heart health in animals 

Heart disease is one of the top causes of death. High levels of lipids and cholesterol in the blood are risk factors of heart disease, but research suggests that vinegar could improve several of these risk factors. 

However, many of these studies were conducted in animals. One study in rays suggests that apple cider vinegar could help with high blood pressure. But studies in human haven’t been done to back it up.

6 . Improve hair health 

There are some people who use apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse to remove dandruff or product buildup. 

Although, there isn’t any proof that it works for such things, but ACV does contain anti bacteria and anti fungal properties which could help improve your hair health.

7 . Ease acid reflux

Several people strongly believe that apple cider vinegar (ACV)  helps relieve heartburn and acid reflux. If you want to try it out, make sure to start with small amounts and dilute it in water.

But you should ask your doctor if you could try using ACV to ease your discomfort. 


The best way to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet is to use it in your cooking. It’s safe and tasty to use apple cider vinegar and it also adds some excitement to your meals. Some ways you can use ACV is :

  • Stews and sauces
  • Glass of water
  • Salad dressing

Actual Dosage

The common dosage ranges from 1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml) to 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) per day mixed in a large glass of water. When you’re adding it to stews, or sauces you could go higher in amount.

It’s always best to start with small dosages and avoid taking large amounts. Too much vinegar can do more harm than good, including tooth enamel erosion and potential interactions.

There are a lot of uncertainties concerning  the usage of Apple cider Vinegar. It contains some helpful properties but there is no 100 percent guarantee on it’s benefits to humans, because most have mostly been found via lab tests in animals and not much actual tests im humans.
