Health tips for single mums
Have a time rule
We’re not going to tell you to “make time”.
It would just be another thing to add to an endless list.
A better idea is to pick a small amount of time every day, like 15 minutes, to do something that you enjoy.
No matter what.
It could be:
- Reading a chapter from a book you love
- Listening to your favorite songs
- Doing a quick workout
- Watching your favorite YouTube content, like vlogs or shows
Whatever it is, do it within that time.
What matters is that you’re consistent with that 15-minute-a-day activity.
Prepare meals strategically
You can avoid meal-prep marathons by just doing one thing.
- Which is remixing your meal prep style.
Cook extra portions when you make dinner and set them aside for lunch the next day.
You can also roast a big batch of veggies and add them to all the meals
Repeating meals can help save you the stress of thinking about what your kids will have for their next meals.
There’s nothing wrong with having rice again the next day.
For example, if you all ate rice for breakfast on Monday, you can eat rice for breakfast on Tuesday.
There would be some space between their meals, so it’ll be okay.
Meditate a little every day
Even if it’s for 5 minutes, it’s still something.
You can try those guided meditation apps. And if you would like to do it for longer, you can try when your kid is napping.
Say no if you need to
You are free to say no to things that don’t make you feel good.
Things that drain your energy.
This doesn’t make you mean; it shows that you value your peace of mind and time.
Over-committing yourself to everything will eventually burn you out.
- This will make it harder to take care of your children.
Your time is valuable, as is your energy.
Stay hydrated
Water is life. You need it to keep you alive and well. So, make sure you drink enough every day.
Don’t want to forget? Set an alarm on your phone to remind you.
If you want it to have a better taste, add fruits to it. It’ll give it some flavor.
Hydration is very important.
Get in as much walking as you can
You can get in more steps than you think.
- Walk while you talk on the phone
- Go to the kitchen and come back (5x)
- Don’t park too close to the store.
- Walk at home with kids
- Match in place when cooking
Small steps add up.
You don’t need to reach “10k” steps; you just need to get in as many steps as you can.
Make your room enticing to sleep in
If your room is always a mess, it won’t feel good to sleep in it.
- Messy rooms don’t look inviting.
But when it’s always clean, one look at it and it’ll call you to bed.
You can also invest in blackout curtains, a good mattress, and pretty-looking sheets.
A simple bedtime routine can help too.
Whether it is,
- Praying
- Reading a book
- Skin care
- Stretching
It might help you sleep better.
Ask for some assistance
This is a big one, true. But, don’t be afraid to ask for help from your family, friends or even paid services.
It doesn’t mean you don’t have the capacity to take care of your family.
