Wash things immediately after using them, especially while cooking.
It helps reduce the amount of dishes you’d have to do later. And keep the place free from germs.
Keep your bathrooms and toilets clean
Dirty bathrooms and toilets have lots of germs and bacteria. Which might even give you an infection.
- Especially if you’re a girl.
Always clean the restrooms in your house, and don’t wait till it gets too dirty.
Regularly cleaning helps a lot.
And don’t just use soap, use antiseptics to clean or even bleach.
Watch out for your environment
Being healthy is also about being safe.
There are dangerous people out there. And you never know who’s watching you.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a guy or a lady, you need to be very careful.
And AWARE of your environment.
- Don’t always have the same routine. Come home at different times if you can.
- Do things earlier like grocery shopping or hangouts.
- If you’re a girl, and you have a late night out, don’t come home alone. If possible go to a friend’s.
- Don’t be quick to give your address to anyone.
Also, whenever someone comes to fix something, in your house, make a fake phone call, talking about EVERYTHING.
- Down to their name, and time they came in.
Or act like someone is on their way to your house.
This may not completely prevent anything, but it may give them a rethink on their bad intentions.
Or on any potential threat to your safety.
Eat well
Plan your meals for the week so you can have healthy food options at home.
Cook in batches, if you can, and store them in your fridge or freezer to keep them fresh.
Grocery shopping
Making a grocery list makes it easier to eat healthy.
When you create the list let it be based on your meal plan and stick to eat.
You can add or two snacks like cookies or ice cream.
But eat them in moderate amounts.
For your shopping list you buy:
- Whole grain
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- And lean protein
For healthy snacks, you can buy:
- Nuts and seeds
- Yogurt
- Fruits
- Dark chocolate
- Peanut butter
- Whole grain crackers
Stay active
Build a routine that keeps you physically active.
It could be:
- Home workouts
- Cycling
- Running
- Jogging
- Walking
- Brisk walking
- Or going to the gym
It’s also good if you have activities that aren’t necessarily “workouts”
Like,
- Hiking
- Dancing
- Playing sports
- Swimming
The point is:
- Don’t become a couch bro.
Take care of your mental health
It might be easier to take care of your mental health if you live alone.
You can go about it anyway you want.
- And not be distracted by anyone.
Unlike if you were living with your parents or had a roommate.
You could do things and feel comfortable doing them.
Like:
- Crying
- Taking more naps if you feel very tired
- Saying words of affirmation loudly
- Meditating
- Wearing what you feel comfortable in
- Do yoga in your underwear
- Doing deep breathing
You can also have more time for your hobbies, without being disturbed.
But, reaching out to your family and friends is also a good for your mental health
And if you want to pay them a visit, do so.
Other ways to be healthy when living alone
- Create a consistent sleep routine. And sleep and wake up at the same time.
- Try to not use your r laptop, tablet or TV, close to bedtime.
- Keep your room cozy, and cool. It might help you sleep better.
- Have a warm bath at night to relax.
- Sleep on clean sheets.
- Change your mattress if it is comfortable.
- Manage your time well.
- Don’t procrastinate and get things done when the time comes.
- Set boundaries with your house.
- Try journaling.
- Declutter your space
It’s good to be healthy when living a lot. The habits you adopt, can help you grow to be a more responsible person.

- Or older siblings to call you out.
It’s just you. Try your best to take care of yourself.
