Veronica has been a sugary coffee drinker every morning for as long as she can remember, but she wanted to give green tea a try, after several persuasion from her bestie.

Green tea isn’t new to me, I’ve taken it a few times over the years, but not every morning, especially for 30 days. And the things that happened genuinely surprised me.

My goal wasn’t to lose 15 pounds or completely change my lifestyle, I just wanted to start a healthy habit that felt like something I could stick to. Although at first, I thought I’d quit after the second day, but I’m glad I didn’t.

So I picked Monday.

The first week: It was much harder than I expected

I didn’t like the taste at all. Compared with my usual coffee with cream, and sugar, green tea tasted like nothing I wanted to drink any more.

But I continued to drink green tea. I started to notice that my attention, and concentration levels kind of got better.

Even though green tea doesn’t have as much caffeine, I noticed that it did help me feel more alert.

The second week: It was getting a bit easier

When I got to the second week of drinking it, I realized that it was gradually helping me build better habits. Before I started to drink green tea, my usual morning drink was a sugary one.

But now, I just make tea, and it really feels good to be in this state. Even when I would scroll mindlessly while snacking, I just sip my tea slowly.

These choices might seem little, but they really made a difference in how I felt about my mornings.

The third week: I noticed a few physical changes

Maybe it was because of the reduction of sugar in my diet, but I did feel more energetic in the morning than I felt before.  Even during the day, I noticed I could do more things, than I could before. And it felt really good, and kind of fulfilling.

Drinking green tea reminded me to drink more water, move my body more during the day, and have a rethink before going for another sugary drink. I also felt less bloated when I woke up, which kind of made my tummy feel somewhat flatter, but I believe it’s how I unintentionally changed my way of eating in general. Cause I don’t know, taking green tea slowly made me want to eat in a way that didn’t feel unhealthy.

Knowing that drinking it was encouraging me to build better habits, is a huge win for me.

The fourth week: I felt really better overall

After drinking green tea for 30 days, I wouldn’t say it transformed my body in some dramatic way, but it did transform one part of my routine. Which influenced other parts of my life unknowingly.

  • I felt more consistent
  • My mornings felt purposeful
  • I kind of ate better
  • Sugar wasn’t such a big deal anymore

Would I Continue To Drink Green Tea?

Yes I will. And I recommend you try it too. Like I said at first, it won’t feel nice at all, but it’s different, and different is good. It wasn’t another “quick fix” I hopped on, but it became a healthy habit that I could actually be consistent with.

  • Improved energy levels
  • Ability to focus better
  • Higher antioxidant levels
  • And a small increase in your metabolism

Although green tea is great, it won’t automatically transform your life into a miracle, because healthy results depend on a few important things. Like your diet, sleep, fitness levels, and your lifestyle.
